November 25th, 2011 -- It was an unbelievable weekend of racing last weekend at the Myrtle Beach 400. The action started Thursday as the late models and limited late models started filing into the track in the morning for a full day of practice. Friday was more practice and then a full day of qualifying on Saturday. The Limited Late Models of the SouthEast Limited Tour for the Challenger division were the first to take to the track for their feature. Justin Crider had a solid finish and clinched the Points Championship for the series. Justin had a great season with multiple top 5’s and repeated wins. Congratulations to the Crider team on a fantastic season.

The big day on Sunday started with the Pro division of the SouthEast Limited Late Model feature. At the end of the 100 lap feature, which was slowed by a red flag due to a 15 car pile-up in turn 3, Chris Chapman clinched the points championship for the season. Chapman had a great run and finished 2nd in the feature. Congratulations on a great season to Chris and his team.

The big event of the day rolled off on a beautiful sunny afternoon at Myrtle Beach. 15 Performancenter LTO/MRC cars took the green in the 44 car field. Tire conservation would be the biggest strategy of the day.  Garrett Campbell and Andy Mercer had great qualifying runs and started in the top 10 of the field. Mercer was able to stay in the top 10 for most of the race and finish 3rd for a great weekend. Garrett Campbell dropped as deep as 20th in the pack, but with about 20 laps to go made his final charge to the front. A final caution at lap 148 would set up a green/white/checkered finish. At the restart, Campbell was able to take the lead and hold on for the final 2 laps, making this his 4th win in 6 starts in his new Performancenter LTO/MRC car. Great weekend and season for the Campbell team. Andy Mercer 3rd, Harrison Rhodes 4th, Toby Porter 9th, and Austin McDaniel 10th rounded out the top 10. Final finishing order is listed below.
